Normandy Isle is one of the trendy Miami Beach neighborhoods. Recently embellished Normandy isle is a residential area of 300 single family homes, 50 apartment buildings and of course a golf club overlooking the intra-costal.
Few years ago Normandy isle was called “the little Argentina” But today the Argentines are joined by Uruguayans, Brazilians, Colombians as well as Europeans.
This colorful and multi-ethnic community with streets named after French cities (Marseille drive, Calais, Biarritz drive etc.) was founded in the 1920’s by a French developer Henri Levy. Levy wanted to make Miami Beach look like a French resort city.
By 1926 Levy planned and developed Normandy Isle, complete with a nursery, roads, sidewalks and the famous fountain that still stands today at the fork of 71 street and Normandy drive.
Recently Normandy isle was added to the US national register of historic places
